De eerste dag

After a story about a young pig called Joachim, who fell in love with a beautiful girl, everyone understood the importance of learning a foreign language.

What did we do next?
1. the 26 letters of the Dutch alphabet and the connected sounds;
2. a short introduction into spelling of the short and long vowels: maan - plural: plural: manen; man -mannen
3. spelling of our voornaam en achternaam;
4. Roman las een verhaaltje voor van Jip en Janneke.

After the lunch break we made some exercises from a set of sheets: exercises about greetings [we added doei and dag to our repertoire] and we got accustomed to a little piece of grammar: the declination of the verbs [present form].
Remember:
  • ik heet, woon, heb, ben
  • jij/je heet, woont, hebt, bent
  • hij/zij heet, woont, heeft, is
  • wij heten, wonen, hebben, zijn
  • jullie heten, wonen, hebben, zijn
  • zij/ze heten, wonen, hebben, zijn.
We showed that we could tell some short stories, even one about the little pig Vasco Jr.

Some questions:
1. Why do we wear orange clothes in the Olympic Stadium?
2. What is the difference between jij and je?
3. Mention 5 common question words.
